Tutoring sessions are curated to your needs and strengths. For example, it may be helpful to set up periodic sessions to test and improve your knowledge of important subjects, review your study habits, and make adjustments as needed. Or, it may be useful to set up topic review sessions, where we work together to test your knowledge of a subject and improve your understanding of certain topics. We may also spend time working on test-taking skills, such as your MBE approach or essay writing. I know that this is a stressful period and your time is extremely valuable—I will work with you to figure out the best approach for you.
As a former essay grader for a large commercial bar prep course, I will provide you the same in-depth analysis that you would get from another service at a fraction of the cost. I will give you feedback on your organization, issue spotting, and analysis. In addition, I will highlight any rules you missed, ranking each one in order of importance on the Bar Exam. Finally, I will provide a projected score so you know how you're progressing.
Are you hitting a wall trying to understand personal jurisdiction? Mixing up the perfect tender rule? Quick Review Calls are 15-minute phone calls designed to help you talk through areas where you're feeling stuck, so that you can solidify that area of law and move on to the next one. This time can also be used as a quick study planning time—I can help you figure out if you're spending too much time in one area and whether there's a better approach for you.
Once you sign up for Quick Review Calls, I will send you my schedule of availability (typically at least three hours daily). To schedule a session, simply select your time slot and give a brief description of your question. Quick Review Sessions can be scheduled same-day.
The answer, of course, is that it depends. You might not need a tutor at all—in fact, for students who know their strengths, have developed a solid study schedule, and are seeing themselves progress, I often recommend a very limited tutoring supplement or none at all. On the other hand, regular tutoring services can be useful in developing and sticking to a study plan, staying motivated, prioritizing important topics, and working through hard-to-understand material. Meeting with a tutor can also help students get a read on where they're at, where they need to improve, and the most efficient way to be successful. Not sure if tutoring is right for you?
